System Layout Menu--- Menu Bar --- Area Sections --- Badge Reader Sections ![]() The "Refresh" button will cause the System Layout to re-read the database to get a current configuration of your ACAS system. The "Help" button will bring up teh on-screen help manual. 1. The area title is simply the name you choose for that specific area. 2. Immediately below the area title will be a button which reads "OPEN" or "LOCKED". This button reflects the current state of the areas. If the area is "OPEN" the button will appear green and the locking devices associated with the badge readers in that area will be in the "UNLOCKED" state. By pressing this button the state of the area will be toggled to the "LOCKED" mode. Thus, if the button reads "LOCKED" and is pressed the button will turn green and display "OPEN". All locking devices in that area will be deactivated. Pressing this button again will cause the area to be "LOCKED" and each locking device will again be activated. 1. The Badge Reader Title is simply the name or location of that badge reader. Along with the title is a number, the number represents the number assignment in the configuration scheme and interface scheme. The Badge Reader Title is also a pushbutton. When the button is pressed a grant signal will be sent to the associated badge reader. This function will allow you to let a user in without a badge swipe. 2. The Badge Reader Mode section is located directly below the Badge Title. The section consists of two boxes. The first box displays the mode of the badge reader: IN (I), OUT (O), or both IN/OUT (I,O). By pressing any of these buttons, the mode of the badge reader will change immediately. Switching an IN badge reader to an OUT badge reader will defeat the identity checking for the badge reader. ANY valid badge will receive a grant on an OUT badge reader. The IN mode is useful when you, as the system administrator, are trying to keeep tack of the current users in any giiven area. An IN/OUT badge reader will act as an IN badge reader with full identity checking until a successful entry swipe has been made. The subsequent swipe, by the same user at the same badge reader, will return a grant and red lights. The red lights indicate the user has left the area. The function will only be successful if internal procedures are strictly followed. The second box displays and controls the Identity checking for the badge readers. An OPEN (O) badge reader has its' locking devices activated, but will open for any valid badge. A RESTRICTED (R) badge reader will require that the user be entered into your ACAS system database and be allowed to enter the area. Return to Table of Contents |
